Headstones

Aside from Monuments, there are 3 different headstone styles to choose from. Flush markers, Bevel markers and Slant markers.

The most popular size is 2ft by 1ft by 4in. Some cemeteries have size and color restrictions. We will be happy to find those out for you.

Monuments

Granite withstands harsh weather conditions and time, so hundreds of years from now, the memorial will still look as nice as when it was first purchased.

Bronze Headstones

Cast bronze plaques on granite backers.

Custom Etchings

Etchings are images stippled into Jet Black stone using a diamond tipped bit. Ranging from 4"x6" to 24"x36".

Sandblasting

We offer on site cemetery lettering and sandblast for private institutions and public transit.

We source our granite from China, India and The United States of America. U.S. quarries include Georgia, Missouri, Vermont and the Dakotas.

Diamond, never laser

Diamond etching and Laser etching are the 2 most common. Because laser etching is transferred directly from an image to the headstone, many times the image quality can be poor or skewed… The diamond etching technique is also much deeper and longer lasting than that of the laser etch. Diamond etching is the best, therefore, EVERY custom headstone etching created at Monumental Art Works is done this way.

A sculptor, his daughter, and the shop they built

Viktor immigrated to Chicago in 1992, cut stone at Bevel Granite Co., and became a professional sculptor and monument designer in 1997. In 2010 the father-daughter duo opened up Monumental Art Works.

Olga set out to pass the savings to the customer by keeping the cost low while maintaining high quality.

John is the Shop Craftsman. Liz, with us since 2017, was trained in the Viktor Method of design.
